Game Drives
Tanzania's Serengeti is expansive and untouched, making for an immersive, awe-inspiring safari experience. The Grumeti region is teeming with energy and activity, meaning game drives here are exciting and generally fruitful. Our knowledgeable guides and trackers have a deep understanding of the land and passionately share its abundant wonders with guests through interactive stories. Game drives take place early in the morning and again in the evening.
We share Grumeti with a wide variety of wildlife, so there’s a good chance you’ll encounter lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo, elephants, Bat-eared foxes, Maasai giraffes, and, of course, wildebeest—known for their annual Great Migration—during your stay. You might also come across the rare Colobus monkey.
The Great Migration
There’s no ‘best’ time to visit the Serengeti to experience the migration. It’s an annual and year-round event, and its path varies based on weather patterns and other environmental factors. Typically, guests at Grumeti can witness it between May and July, as it moves north northwest toward our properties.

Guided Safari Walks
Walking safaris in the Grumeti Reserve give guests the opportunity to get to know the landscape from a different angle. Moving quietly through the vast plains and grasslands on foot, one begins to understand the immensity of the landscape from a ground-up point of view. Tuning in all the senses is part of the experience, and our skilled field guides and trackers are happy to share their wealth of information about the wildlife, diverse terrain and incredible variety of habitats that make up the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem.
Learn more about tracking wildlife and how to interpret the fascinating tell-tale signs and signals animals leave behind. Moving away from the well-beaten tracks familiar to game drive vehicles, walking safaris give one a sense of freedom to explore the dynamic natural world at a leisurely pace.

Community Visits
Perhaps Africa’s greatest beauty is its people and, as part of Singita’s deep commitment to community development, during their stay, guests are invited to visit the nearby communities.
As the custodian of more than 350,000 acres of the world-renowned Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania, Singita’s partnership with Grumeti Fund has had a profound impact on the Serengeti ecosystem. The non-profit Grumeti Fund carries out wildlife conservation and community development programs in and around the Singita Grumeti Reserve.
The Grumeti Fund Community Outreach Program works with residents of the 21 villages bordering Singita Grumeti to realise their development goals.
We partner with these communities to address issues of education, natural resource management, enterprise development and water management. We encourage guests to visit these communities to experience the success of these projects firsthand.

Anti-poaching Observation Post Visit
The Singita Grumeti Fund anti-poaching team is made up of 120 dedicated scouts who patrol the 350,000-acre concession. They are based in 12 scout camps and 12 observation posts (OPs) across the reserve. Each OP is manned by two scouts who constantly survey the area for unusual activity, whether it’s poachers moving through the protected zone, unauthorised vehicles, cattle entering the reserve, or animals in distress.
Their role is to quickly identify incursions and report them to the wider anti-poaching team, who can respond accordingly. Two scouts stay at each OP for a week, sharing duties such as cooking and cleaning while ensuring one person is always on watch.
Guests can visit OP 7, located atop a hill with beautiful sunset views over the grassy plains. The experience includes meeting the Singita Grumeti Fund scouts and seeing how they live and work. An infographic board at the OP highlights the Fund’s focus areas and key facts behind their conservation success. Combined with a morning coffee or afternoon drinks stop, it’s an ideal place to appreciate the landscape and the vital work of the anti-poaching unit.
Note: The walk to OP 7 is steep; good walking shoes are recommended.

Yoga
You will find a dedicated yoga mat in your suite as well as a card to guide you through a relaxing sequence in the privacy of your room or on your deck. All our lodges also offer Vinyasa and Yin yoga practices with trained practitioners – simply ask our front-of-house staff to check availability, then book and join a session.
Known for seamlessly synchronising movement with breath, Vinyasa is a flowing style of yoga that moves from one posture to the next using muscular engagement. Yin is a meditative practice focusing on passive, long-held poses – often with the support of props like blocks and bolsters. It helps to improve flexibility, reduce stress, quieten the mind and foster mindfulness.
