Khanya Safari Lodge & Conservation Camp
Conservation Talk: An Experts Insights
(OPTIONAL)
The Conservation Talk, An Expert’s Insights experience at Khanya Safari Lodge and Conservation Camp offers guests a meaningful opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the conservation challenges facing wildlife in the Greater Kruger region, while also learning about initiatives working to make a difference. The experience begins with a film introducing the remarkable work of Down to the Wire, an organisation that transforms discarded poaching snares into handcrafted jewellery and art pieces, turning symbols of destruction into symbols of hope.
Following the film, guests enjoy an engaging and informative discussion with our conservation specialist, who shares insights into the realities of wildlife conservation, anti-poaching efforts, snaring, and the ongoing work being done to protect vulnerable species within the region. The talk offers a behind-the-scenes perspective into the challenges faced, while also highlighting the importance of community involvement, education, and sustainable conservation initiatives.
Lastly, guests select a handcrafted piece of jewellery created by Down to the Wire, included as part of the activity. Each piece is made from recycled snare wire, allowing guests to take home a meaningful keepsake that directly supports conservation efforts.
