SUSTAINABILITY
Great Plains
It all started when five individuals in their 50’s pooled their considerable skills and experience to create innovative, world-class conservation projects in diverse and threatened habitats throughout Africa. Paul Harris, owner of Ellerman House is one of the five individuals and we work closely with Great Plains Conservation, in any areas possible. Their mission is to find the right formula of conservation, communities and commerce that would make a lasting, sustainable difference to the world’s iconic wildlife and wildernesses.
The model takes stressed and threatened environments, surrounds them with compassionate protection and intelligent, sustainable management, and funds them with sensitive, low-volume, low-impact, tourism. Communities are an intrinsic part of this model and benefit directly from it. The final piece of the puzzle is the guests, our clients – who pay to visit the camps we create, and through doing so, become our valued partners and agents of positive change.
The Click Foundation
Formed in 2012 ,The Click Foundation was set up to aid the use of technology in education and pursue outcomes based interventions using data to drive decisions and impact. The Foundation’s founding premise is that the correct use of technology can shift the education paradigm in an efficient, cost-effective and scalable manner.
The primary focus of the Click Foundation is the implementation of online English literacy programmes in under-privileged primary schools across South Africa. The programmes offers young learners the opportunity to work at their own pace through fun and enjoyable activities, navigating their learning journey by means of technology. They currently reach over 90,000 learners in 173 schools, have created over 340 jobs for youth facilitators and aim to reach 1 million learners by 2024.
The foundation is all about changing lives for the young learners of South Africa. Supporting them on their journey and creating lifelong learners through their ability to read and use technology.

ArtAngels
Since 2011, Ellerman House has opened its doors to the annual charity auction and party, Ellerman House ArtAngels, for the benefit of the Click Foundation.
To date the ArtAngels events have raised over R20 million for education in South Africa. The events include a limited auction of fine art pieces kindly donated by some of South Africa’s best artists, the sale of raffle tickets, amazing prizes and fantastic wine, food and entertainment. The proceeds of the charity event are used to buy computers and expand the reach of the Click Foundation in the environments in which they operate.
