African Bush Camps Somalisa Acacia
This family safari camp, located slightly to the west of sister camp Somalisa sits on the edge of a seasonal floodplain in Hwange National Park. Somalisa Acacia is tucked away beneath the dappled shade of an Acacia grove. Somalisa Acacia comprises of 2 Family Units with inter-leading walkways between the parents and children’s rooms which are both en-suite, as well as 2 standard Sail Tents. All the simple but luxurious tents are on slightly raised decks, under the dappled canopy of a grove of Acacias on the western side of Somalisa.
The camp enjoys its own private views of a small water hole, frequented by large herds of big game including buffalo, elephant, kudu, zebra, giraffe and lion. A small splash pool allows you to cool off during the heat of the day. Activities on offer are game drives and walking excursions with the camp’s professional guides. Most of the activities are in the Somalisa private concession but with easy access to other parts of Hwange National Park.
On special request, Somalisa Acacia can be booked in conjunction with Somalisa Camp to cater for larger groups of up to 20 people. A private guide and tour leader facility is available on special request.
SUSTAINABILITY
We do not separate ourselves from a conservation company. Our camps are sustainable, with minimal impact on the environment and our Foundation projects empower local communities. Our aim is to conserve and preserve the beautiful areas in Southern Africa.
The African Bush Camps Foundation is a non-profit focused on conservation, education, and empowerment in the communities near the company’s camps.
We are committed to sustainable development, through creating opportunities that empower rural communities located in vulnerable wildlife areas in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia. We work to create these opportunities through Education, Community Empowerment, Community Infrastructure and Conservation.
OUR VISION
The African Bush Camps Foundation is a registered not-for-profit organization (registration no: MA121/2016) that began operating in 2006 with the vision of creating opportunities that empower rural communities located in vulnerable wildlife areas.
The Foundation’s mission is to partner with these communities to improve their quality of life and achieve long-term conservation through programs focusing on education, conservation and community empowerment.
By directly linking these benefits to tourism these communities learn to positively value wildlife and nature as resources for improving their well being.
OUR APPROACH
The African Bush Camps Foundation identifies needs, skills and resources within communities and forges meaningful partnerships amongst the stakeholders, creating opportunities to empower the communities and their members to become self-sustaining and independent, whilst also promoting conservation and community spirit.
We work with the rural communities living in and around the wildlife areas in which African Bush Camps operates.
OUR SUPPORT
Through our multi-faceted partnership with African Bush Camps, each and every bed night in any one of their camps donates US$10 to the African Bush Camps Foundation covering our administrative overheads, allowing us to make sure that 100% of each and every donation goes directly to the project it is intended for.
