Come and enjoy our warm hospitality and a genuine, authentic safari experience led by award-winning guides in an area widely considered as one of the most game rich locations in Africa.
Mwamba - Africa's best place to hide
Meaning ‘heaven’ in our local language, Mwamba is the quintessential African bushcamp. Our intimate camp features just 4 tranquil chalets, authentically recreated each year using woven reed, thatch and other natural materials.
Each chalet is set along the banks of the dry, meandering Mwamba riverbed with comfortable, shaded verandas from which to enjoy the abundant birdlife and feeling of total serenity. Clean and silent solar power provides each room with lighting and cooling fans for the summer months. The ensuite, outdoor bathrooms elevate the bush experience further with double basins complemented by stunning copper tapware, beautiful live-edge mirrors, and showers tucked into the trees for a gorgeous back-to-nature feel.
Delicious meals and stories of the day’s encounters are shared in our bush-style “chitenge”, set under the deep shade of huge ebony trees, while the spacious deck offers a relaxing space with breathtaking views of the Mwamba river. It serves as a perfect spot for relaxation, providing an excellent vantage point for wildlife sightings. A spectacular sunset viewing point on top of a large termite mound and a glowing campfire under the stars completes the camp’s friendly and personal atmosphere.
When not out exploring the bush, guests can enjoy the camps famous 'Last waterhole hide'. A short walk from the camp, this productive hide is truly a wildlife enthusiasts dream spot.
Exclusive to Mwamba guests, the Numbu Star Bed is the perfect add-on for those seeking a deeper connection to the wild, whether celebrating a special occasion or simply embracing nature’s raw beauty. A night spent where only a mosquito net separates you from the stars promises an unforgettable, sensory-rich experience.
Set within an open savannah just a 15-minute drive from Mwamba Bush Camp, the newly elevated platform spans two elegant levels:
- Lower Deck: A cozy retreat complete with a fire pit, dining table, and comfortable seating - ideal for sundowners and private dinners as the sun dips beyond the plains.
- Upper Deck: The centrepiece - a beautifully appointed four-poster bed draped in a large mosquito net, warmed by soft duvets and lanterns. Added luxuries include a plumbed toilet, vanity, and a freestanding outdoor bathtub – perfect for soaking under the stars while gazing over the sweeping savannah.
For guest safety and peace of mind, an armed scout and guide remain overnight in a nearby boma, with radio contact at all times. Guests are encouraged to bring essential personal items for their night under the stars, while other belongings remain safely in their chalet at Mwamba.
