Ecoterra Costa Rica: Arenal Volcano + La Fortuna Waterfall + Lunch

(OPTIONAL)

This tour begins with a drive to the El Silencio Private Reserve, where we’ll get as close as possible to the base of Arenal Volcano by vehicle. From there, we’ll walk 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) along a moderate volcanic stone path to the viewpoint, the closest accessible point to the volcano. At the viewpoint, our guide will share fascinating insights about the volcano’s formation, its eruptive history, and details about its first eruption in 1968. You’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of the Green Lagoon and Lake Arenal. The trail passes through areas of regenerating forest, a result of past eruptions, where you may spot various wildlife, including toucans, turkeys, orioles, and occasionally peccaries or snakes. The natural beauty of the rainforest adds to the experience, making this hike a memorable adventure. After enjoying the views, we’ll return to the starting point and be greeted by a refreshing tropical fruit snack. Around 11:00 am participants will move on to the 70-metre high La Fortuna Waterfall, which is a breathtaking place where participants can take a refreshing swim or just photograph the magical waterfall and its splendid surroundings. After that you will enjoy a delicious lunch.
