Gorilla Heights Lodge
GORILLA TREKKING
Gorilla Heights Lodge is set in the western sector of the Bwindi
Impenetrable National Park and gives you the opportunity to embrace
an extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter with the
phenomenal mountain gorillas. The nearest trekking sector, called
Nkuringo, is only 15 minutes away from the lodge and is home to four
gorilla families. The Posho family has 17 members, the Nkuringo family
is made up of 14 members, the Bushaho family has 9 members and the
Christmas family, 8.
There is also access to two other trekking sectors, Rushaga and
Mgahinga, from the lodge. There are 10 families living in the Rushaga
sector, as well as the golden monkey species, habitating the Mgahinga
sector. The gorilla trekking experience is led daily, at a maximum
number of eight persons per family, per day. These expeditions take
place over approximately seven hours.
NOTE:
• Participants must be 15 years or older to participate in the gorilla
trekking experience.
• Participants are not allowed to interact with the gorillas but must
maintain a minimum distance of 10 metres between themselves
and the gorillas.

GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING AT MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK
Embark on an unforgettable adventure in the Mgahinga Gorilla
National Park. As you trek through lush forests, you will have the
opportunity to witness the endangered golden monkeys in their
natural habitat, approximately two hours (52 km) from the lodge. An
expert guide will lead you through this breathtaking terrain, sharing
insights about the ora and fauna that make this area so special. The
trekking experience takes place over approximately four hours.
NOTE:
• Participants must be 15 years or older to participate in the golden
monkey trekking experience.
• Participants are not allowed to interact with the monkeys but
must maintain a minimum distance of 10 metres between
themselves and the monkeys. A full brieng will be given by the
guides before the outing.
