Nkomazi Private Game Reserve
Game Drives
Nkomazi Private Game Reserve is a wildlife haven. This is where great natural beauty and the 3.7 billion years of history meet. Nature lovers can share in the many wonders of Nkomazi, its diversity of wildlife and habitat, its natural beauty and major geological finds. Interactive morning and evening game drives in open game-viewing vehicles form part of the Nkomazi Private Game Reserve experience. These drives last up to three hours, and guests are served tea or coffee at sunrise and a sundowner at sunset. Viewing diverse flora, including the Barberton daisy and the Protea, also forms part of these journeys.
Birding Safari
Nkomazi Private Game Reserve is home to over 300 bird species, which makes for impressive bird watching. The reserve’s birding safaris provide guests with a special opportunity to spot these diverse creatures.
Guided Nature Walks
A wonderful opportunity to view the finer details of the bush up close is offered through Nkomazi Private Game Reserve’s guided nature walks. These are led by qualified walking guides who reveal the sighting of, and information on birds, insects, plants and animal droppings. Guided nature walks are
provided at an additional cost and are only offered to guests over the age of sixteen.
This activity must be requested at the time of booking accommodation as walks are scheduled subject to the availability of guides.
Fly-Fishing
Fly-fishing can be enjoyed along the 30 kilometres of the Komati River that winds its way through Nkomazi Private Game Reserve. This is an awe-inspiring and adventurous activity that is offered on a catch and release basis, at an additional cost and subject to weather and river conditions. Rangers are on hand to offer basic tuition and guidance.
Stargazing
A breathtaking experience can be taken in during Nkomazi Private Game Reserve’s informative stargazing sessions, led by the reserve’s "star rangers". Given the clean air and the fact that very little unnatural light competes with the brightness of the stars in this region, the sight of the night sky is truly spectacular. A closer look can be enjoyed through the reserve’s Celestron scope.
