Destination: Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Huab Valley, Wilderness Damaraland Camp is situated in one of the most untamed wilderness areas in Namibia. Simple, beautiful and open to the desert, the camp offers endless vistas across stark plains, ancient valleys and stunning ochre-purple mountains, all waiting to be explored.

Experience:Guests have an array of exhilarating desert adventures to choose from. Activities include immersive nature drives and walks discovering the unique wildlife, birds and reptiles of the desert, and meaningful cultural experiences, some dating back 6000 years, while further afield, ancient rock art and geological wonders dot the area at Twyfelfontein. Back in camp, guests can have a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear pool, share the day’s adventures around a traditional outdoor boma and dine under a star-studded night sky.

Purpose: Damaraland Camp is the result of an award-winning partnership between Wilderness and the local Torra Conservancy, the first of its kind in Namibia; visits to the nearby farmstead allow guests to see this relationship in action.

Wildlife: The Torra Conservancy exists within one of the driest, most desolate regions in all of Africa. And yet, in this arid environment one can find a varied and breathtaking assortment of desert-adapted species around the camp. Naturally, this scrub landscape cannot support vast, concentrated herds of wildlife, but guests can look forward to spotting a healthy population of rare desert-adapted elephant, and some black rhino. Oryx (gemsbok), kudu, springbok, Hartmann's mountain zebra and southern giraffe also live in the area. There is even a possibility of seeing lions, cheetahs and spotted and brown hyenas. Birding is excellent, with over 240 species recorded.

Wilderness Damaraland: Damaraland Camp’s inviting main area has a sparkling pool to cool off in, an open campfire, and a traditional outdoor boma for evenings of cultural cuisine, song and dance, canopied by countless stars.

Ten elevated adobe-style thatched suites with large decks invite unimpeded vistas across the expansive, geologically extraordinary plains of the Namib Desert here. A spacious family unit ensures complete privacy for memorable moments.
