Uspenski Cathedral
The Uspenski Cathedral is the largest Orthodox temple in Northern and Western Europe. The cathedral is located on the highest hill of the Katajanokka district in Helsinki. Designed by Russian architect Aleksei M. Gornostajev and consecrated in 1868, it stands out with its striking red-brick exterior and 33-meter-high central cupola. Visitors can admire the cathedral's stunning Russian-Byzantine architecture, the beautifully painted iconostasis by Pavel S. Šiltsov, and the Kozelshchyna wonderworking icon of the Mother of God. The cathedral also hosts numerous concerts and visitors can go on guided tours of the site.
