Sussi & Chuma Lodge, an A&K Sanctuary

Sussi & Chuma is a small and intimate luxury lodge situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the Upper Zambezi valley on a dramatic bend in the river inside the Mosi-Oa-Tunya national park. This private location away from the crowds is approximately 12km upstream from the Victoria Falls near Livingstone in Zambia and a 25 minute drive from Livingstone international airport. Road transfers to the lodge can also be arranged from Victoria Falls town and Victoria Falls airport. Kasane in Botswana is an hour and a half away. Accommodation is in twelve luxury Sussi tree houses, connected by wooden walkways. There are also two private Chuma houses, each with two bedrooms. The public areas at the main lodge consist of a lounge with an elegant shaded deck, open air dining area, curio shop, swimming pool and raised bar with incredible birds-eye views across the Zambezi. Complimentary wireless internet access is available in the main area. Fully inclusive accommodation rates include a guided walking tour of the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side and a river excursion at sunset on the Zambezi river. There are also additional on-site activities available at no charge: a visit to a local village where the lodge is involved in a philanthropy project, canoeing (minimum age is 15 years), fishing (catch-and-release), and a walking safari or game drive in the small Mosi-Oa-Tunya national park surrounding the Falls. All included activities (shared or private) are only offered at scheduled times in the morning and late afternoon. Included activities are not compulsory. Revitalising spa treatments are available from the treatment room overlooking the Zambezi, at additional cost. External activities nearby can be included at additional cost and should be booked and paid for in advance when reserving accommodation in order to guarantee availability. These include the Flight of Angels scenic helicopter trip, bungee jumping, abseiling and gorge swinging, Livingstone Island excursions and white water rafting (both seasonal), and a visit to the Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side (requires a Visa for Zimbabwe; recommended when water levels on the Zambian side of the Falls are low). Advise if you want to include any of these.
