Cañas Castilla Farm

nature trails on the farm

There is a “white trail” and a “red trail” marked with wooden signs with white or red numbers leading you around the property. Take the information/description being in the cottage as each number points out to a plant or tree. Discover the beauty of the tropical dry forest with the surprising abundance of vegetation! Big old trees of Guanacaste, Cenizaro, Pochote, Jabillo, Panama, is only a few mentioned also flowers, ferns, orchids, and more.
Also spot the animals: spyder- and howler monkeys going along in the trees or having a rest, sloth, ardilla, agouti, watch out for birds and butterflies, also insects, amphibians, and reptiles. Take a bath in the forest and get a rest on the bench to chill and enjoy the surroundings.

The trail is self guided and free for all hotelguests. But let us know if you like to have a guide to arrange it for you (this has an extra cost).
Bring along good walking shoes, long pants, sun and bug protection and your camera. During rainy season it can be very moody, and we recommend using rubber boots. (Many sizes are available at the library).
Walking sticks are provided as well.
The trails require a good physical condition.
