Mila, Auberge Safari
The western corridor lies far from the Serengeti’s busier regions, where acacias dot savannahs framed by distant hills and the sky turns crimson before nightfall. Here, Mila sits at the edge of the golden grasslands, in a landscape that has drawn writers and artists for generations.
The camp keeps the rituals of classic safari close. Coffee is brought steaming to your tent, and bush picnics are served in tiffin tins set out amid the plains. At the end of the day, sundowners are poured as the sun drops below the horizon and when darkness falls, lion calls carry across the camp.
Accommodation
Five tented rooms and a two-bedroom family suite are spread across the camp, at the edge of the plains. Each has a private deck that gazes over the surrounding savannah. Inside, king beds sit beneath linen canopies, and neutral tones and raw textiles bring the grassland indoors. Rooms come in king or twin configurations. Each has a dressing room with a twin vanity, and the en suite bathroom has a rainfall shower and flushing toilet.
The family suite has two bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom, connected by a shared lounge. It sleeps up to two adults and two children under 16, and a single bed can be arranged for children up to 15.
Experiences
Mila is in lion country, home to resident prides and breeding herds of elephants. Every stay includes a private guide and dedicated vehicle, and game drives head into the region's furthest reaches. From April to June, the Great Migration moves through the western corridor for its rutting season.
Experiences include game drives, picnic lunches laid out in the bush, and sundowners with a view across the plains. Stays of three nights or more include a walking safari, and children aged 12 and older can join at the guide’s discretion. Hot air balloon safaris can be arranged in advance at an additional cost.
