The Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge hosts on its ground a health centre managed by Les Medecins de Chinguetti doctor association that delivers free care to the local population in Pakbeng and its surrounding villages. Our team can invite you for approximately 15- 20min to visit the centre so you may discover the dispensary itself, learn about the care provided, how the medicine is collected but also the daily challenges faced by the medical team and the remote communities in regards to access to basic needs.

Nothing brings people together more than a game of "pétanque" and it provides an opportunity to mingle with the local population. We therefore invite you to the "pétanque" field, which is the most popular in Pakbeng. Good times are guaranteed but beware, the local Lao Lao (rice whisky) and beer are always flowing!

Thirsty for tradition? We are offer a Baci Ceremony, organized as a welcome by the shaman of Pakbeng and the people of the village. Perfect occasion if the Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge is the first step of your journey in Laos. In this case we are going to put the spirits on your side! According to Lao tradition, each person is looked after by 32 souls (khouan) and the Baci aims to bring these back to the body and attract beneficial influences. The Baci ceremony is performed at all important events in a person’s life.

Bamboo weaving: One of the most popular handicrafts in Laos. It would be the local’s pleasure to initiate you to this practice. Create your own typical souvenir by making your own basket, table set, coasters,… Kratong Workshop: Make your own decorated floating basket. These banana flower based baskets, completed with candles and incense sticks, often resembling lotus flowers are essential in promoting good fortune!
