Please note: No dining is allowed in any of the bungalows and food is not to be taken to the rooms. There is no room service facilities at Umngazi Hotel & Spa.

The hotel does ask that parents consider other diners and supervise their children's dining time. Children can dine in the main dining room as long as they are not disrupting other guests.

Guests can look forward to a 3 mouth-watering meals per day, beautifully laid out by our local chefs in Umngazi's relaxed, informal dining room. For dinner, we offer a "table d'hote" menu. This menu will be on on your table when you arrive and you then place your order with your waiter/waitress. Guests are welcome to bring their drinks from the bar or order directly with the waiter/waitress.

Please Note: Umngazi is a fully licensed established.

Umngazi goes out of it's way to ensure that families enjoy quality dining time together, while providing parents with young children an opportunity to unwind at the table on their own once the youngsters have been fed.

To facilitate this, a Kid's Dining Room is situated adjacent to the main dining room, and caters for children 12 and under. This bright and airy facility is equipped with high-chairs, a separate fridge and a microwave.

If a guest is celebrating a special occasion with a loved one or a small group of friends, then the Green Door wine cellar is a fantastic dining option.

This venue offers an private, intimate culinary tasting and dining experience.

Guests may prefer an outdoor dining experience, which is provided in the Riverside Gazebo.

This exclusive facility is set on stilts submerged in the river and offers one of the more captivating views of Umngazi.

Connected to the mainland by a wooden jetty, guests are treated to intimate privacy under a cosy thatched roof.

Basil's (named after the original owner) creates a central buzz point for the resort, with its convivial layout and prime position over the river front. Whether guests prefer sitting outdoors, sipping on a cold refreshment of choice or sharing stories with other guests across the bar counter, one thing is for sure...our wonderful bar staff will make sure the parties continue.

Service opens at 08:00 and closes when the last guest leaves. Speciality coffees are available from the bar as well as an award winning wine list.

There is a "No Under 18's allowed" law and we ask that guests are aware and assist us in enforcing this.

Saturday Seafood Evening
Saturday Seafood Evenings have become stuff of legends amongst Umngazi visitors.
This is an opportunity for the Umngazi staff to showcase their vibrant culture while guests enjoy their deliciously prepared cuisine. A succulent combination of fish, shellfish, home-baked bread, hearty soups and a carvery are prepared to perfection.
As the evening progresses, the Umngazi staff emerge, in traditional dress, accompanied by Pondo singing and dancing, to the delight of the guests. Guests are welcome to join in the festivities, be it with rhythmic clapping or taking part in the singing and dancing.

Sunday Braai
A South African staple with a difference, the traditional braai is the order of the day for a lazy Sunday afternoon on the dining room deck.
