WHAT TO EXPECT
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Walking up to 2–3 miles per day on a mix of sidewalks, historic cobblestone streets, and within museums. The centers of European cities are often pedestrian-only, and access for motorcoaches is strictly limited. Travel is by motorcoach and canal barge; access to the barge may involve navigating narrow gangways, sometimes on an incline. Movement on canals is smooth, with little to no sea-type motion, as the water is shallow and contained. You should be comfortable managing your own hand luggage and able to walk steadily for short distances, climb short flights of stairs at historic sites and within some older buildings, and move between your barge cabin on the lower deck and the main deck.
