SOUTHERN BELIZE EXTENSION March 29 – April 1, 2026
Travel the scenic Hummingbird Highway into the rainforest to Jaguar Creek Lodge, a secluded eco-retreat, for three days of guided birding in southern Belize—watch hummingbirds shimmer in dappled light, search for toucans and trogons by the sapphire Inland Blue Hole, and wander Bocawina’s forest trails. Venture into Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, the world’s first jaguar preserve, and explore coastal habitats around Hopkins Village where colorful species and local culture thrive, then unwind to the jungle’s evening soundtrack before your return transfer to the international airport.

What to Expect on this Journey
Belize’s remarkable mix of tropical forest, pine savanna, and coastal lagoon habitats creates one of Central America’s richest birding destinations. Though distances are short, travel times can be extended by road conditions and stops for birding. We travel by minibus, using a combination of paved and well-maintained gravel roads.
Expect early morning departures, typically around 5:00–5:30 a.m., to take advantage of peak bird activity, before breakfast.
Accommodations are selected for comfort, location, and access to bird-rich habitats—from rainforest and archaeological sites at La Milpa, to forest and river settings near San Ignacio, and the wetland sanctuary at Crooked Tree Lagoon.
