Summary:

This small group (maximum eight guests) safari starts in Kasane -Chobe and ends in Maun. This safari is hosted throughout by one of the Nxai Photo Hosts.

Starting with a three-night stay at the award-winning Pangolin Chobe Hotel, which sits on the plateau above The Chobe River, guests will then fly into Khwai  for more land-based (and aerial) photography on the Khwai concession staying at Camp Khwai – for another four nights.

These safaris are offered throughout the year, with no more than eight clients accompanied by a Photo Host throughout. If you are a group of friends or a family this can also be booked on an exclusive basis.

Highlights of this safari:

• Encounter iconic African species like elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and endangered African Wild Dogs, along with hippos, crocodiles, cheetahs, hyenas, and various antelope species, with frequent predator action.
• Capture stunning photographs of migratory birds, including the critically endangered Wattled Crane, the vibrant Lilac-breasted Roller, and the African Fish Eagle.
• Experience the breathtaking sight and atmosphere of the first rains of the season with dramatic cloud formations enhancing the landscape.

Safari Itinerary

Days: 1-4

CHOBE

On arrival at Kasane Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, guests will be met and assisted by their dedicated photo host to their motor vehicle for transfer to Pangolin Chobe Hotel.

The Pangolin Chobe Hotel sits on the plateau overlooking the Chobe River and the Caprivi Floodplains below. Completed in 2018 the hotel has 14 rooms and is designed around a wildlife photography gallery featuring inspiring images from Africa and beyond.

Being on the Botswana side we have access to the Chobe national park for game drives as well as the Southern Channel which is inaccessible from the Namibian side. We will divide our time between game drives and a couple of cruises on the channel so that you get to experience the river in its entirety.

By this time guests would have improved their photography and will be feeling confident shooting on the manual camera settings. This will allow guest’s more creative control over images and we spend more time at sightings perfecting various photographic techniques.

The vehicles that is used in The Chobe National Park also seat all eight guests with everyone having a window seat and camera rest to support the lenses. Again, guests will be accompanied on the activities with the same Photo Host.

Overnight at Pangolin Chobe Hotel (3 Nights) – Fully inclusive

Days: 4-8

KHWAI

After breakfast, guests will be transferred to the airstrip in time for the scheduled transfer by light aircraft from Chobe to Camp Khwai for next 4 Nights.

With sweeping lagoon views connecting to the Khwai River, Camp Khwai seamlessly blends into the surrounding woodland area. As Khwai is a community-run concession all proceeds from tourism go directly to help the local people and projects through the Khwai Community Trust.

Besides the daytime drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe – guests will be able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive.

On one of the mornings, an arrangement for a four-seater helicopter will be available for aerial photography. Two guests will accompany the Photo Host on each 30-minute flight over the concession, looking for photo opportunities with the doors off.

Overnight at Camp Khwai (4 Nights)- Fully Inclusive

Day 8: End of Safari

After a final morning activity, guests will depart the camp for Maun Airport where they will continue with onward travel arrangements.
