With this exciting new collaboration between Zambezi Horse Safaris and Hwange Horseback Safaris you are now abe to ride in two of Zimbabwe's top safari destinations! This big five horseback adventure begins in Zimbabwe's flagship national park and home to one of Africa's largest elephant populations before heading off to explore one of the seven natural wonders of the world!
Our six night water and wilderness ride will take you on an adventure of a lifetime where you can expect to ride with all of the big five in their natural environment. From the open savanna grasslands and mystical teak and acacia forests of Hwange National Park onto the pristine and largely unexplored riverine of the mighty Zambezi River.
This ride is for experienced riders only and can accommodate groups of two to six riders per safari, keeping the experience personalized and exclusive. There are a number of activities to compliment your horseback adventure like walking, both day and night game drives, community and conservation tours as well as a tour of the largest falling sheet of water, the famous Victoria falls, or as the locals like to call her: Mosyi O Tuna- The smoke that thunders.
Horses are our lives at both Hwange Horseback Safaris and Zambezi Horse Safaris and in both of these locations you are sure to find your perfect safari partner. We have a weight restriction of 90kgs and do not allow children under sixteen years of age.
Multi day safaris and certain daily activities are for experienced riders only.
Where activities state experienced, riders should be fit and confident at all paces.
Riders are expected to either own their own horse or have ridden regularly (weekly) within the last five years.
The manager has the discretion to ask any rider to dismount if they are not of a suitable competency level for the ride.
The manager’s decision is final and no discussions will be entertained.

Additional Information
Hwange horseback safaris offer a herd of 12, well schooled, bush wise safari horses. The breeds vary from Thoroughbreds, Boereperds Percheron, Quarter-horse and Farm breeds with heights varying between 15,3 -16,3 hands.
We have a range of saddles including English, Australian stock, McClellan and Western. Our tack comprises of leather and nylon bridles with snaffle bits.
All rides are lead by our experienced, Zimbabwean qualified guides and trackers. The pace of our rides is determined by safety and terrain and is mostly fast walking and trotting. Where possible in open areas we will canter and gallop. We look at the rider’s experience and tailor the ride accordingly
