Itinerary Breakdown

Days 1–4:  Chobe Bakwena honeymoon atmosphere

Honeymooners enjoy a 3-night romantic stay at Chobe Bakwena, based in a private honeymoon suite on the banks of the Chobe River, followed by a spectacular helicopter link to Cha Cha Metsi that turns their onward transfer into an aerial safari and a second chapter of their Botswana honeymoon.

Set just outside Kasane on the Chobe riverfront, Chobe Bakwena is an intimate, eco-luxury lodge that blends contemporary design with a warm, relaxed atmosphere and easy access to Chobe National Park. The dedicated honeymoon suite features a king-size bed, air-conditioning, a freestanding bath, indoor and outdoor showers and a spacious private deck with built-in daybeds overlooking the river, creating a secluded sanctuary perfect for couples.

Day 1 – Arrival and first Chobe sunset

On arrival in Kasane, honeymooners are transferred to Chobe Bakwena, welcomed with a cool drink and introduced to the lodge, pool, bar and viewing deck before being shown to their honeymoon suite. After time to freshen up and soak in the river views from the deck or tub, they head out on a Chobe River sunset cruise, sharing their first safari sundowner together while watching elephants, hippos and birdlife along the water’s edge in the golden light. Returning to the lodge after dark, they enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars on the main deck or at a more private, lantern-lit table prepared specially to mark the start of their honeymoon.

Day 2 – Classic safari and couple time

The second day begins with an early-morning game drive in Chobe National Park, exploring one of Africa’s most celebrated elephant habitats and searching for predators and plains game along the riverfront, with a coffee stop in a scenic spot. Back at the lodge, a generous brunch is served, after which the rest of the late morning and early afternoon are at leisure for honeymooners to relax by the eco-friendly natural pool, read on the deck daybeds or enjoy a long, indulgent bath with a chilled drink and uninterrupted river views. In the late afternoon, they can choose between another river cruise or a game drive, ending the day with a celebratory dinner that can include a small honeymoon cake or special dessert and a bottle of bubbly.

Day 3 – Culture, nature and intimate moments

After breakfast, couples can opt for a further game drive or a slower start followed by a guided village or community visit, adding a cultural dimension and showcasing the local people and stories behind the Chobe region. Lunch is followed by unstructured couple time, with options to birdwatch from the deck, nap in the suite or arrange a romantic in-room spoil such as a petal-strewn bath and candles before sunset. The final afternoon activity is often a “last light” river cruise or drive, creating one more shared golden-hour memory before a relaxed, farewell candlelit dinner back at the lodge.

Day 4 – Helicopter to Cha Cha Metsi

On their final morning at Chobe Bakwena, honeymooners enjoy a last breakfast with river views and, if timing allows, a short early river cruise or game drive before check-out. Instead of a standard transfer, they are driven to the Kasane helipad for a private helicopter departure, where their pilot provides a short briefing before lifting off over the Chobe River and floodplains. The flight doubles as an aerial safari, offering sweeping views of the Chobe Riverfront, islands and herds of elephant and buffalo below before tracking across northern Botswana’s wild landscapes towards the Okavango region.

Days 4–8: Cha Cha Metsi (Okavango Delta Romantic Escape)

Descending into the remote wetlands around Cha Cha Metsi, the scenery shifts from broad rivers to shimmering channels, lagoons and palm-dotted islands, signalling the start of a more water- and wilderness-focused phase of the honeymoon.

On landing, the couple is welcomed by the Cha Cha Metsi team with a celebratory drink and orientation, with the camp’s intimate tented suites, Delta activities and horseback or boating options positioning this as the “second chapter” of their journey – a softer, quieter Okavango escape that perfectly complements their lively Chobe riverfront stay.

Arrive at Cha Cha Metsi and transition into a more secluded and intimate safari setting. Surrounded by permanent Delta waterways, the camp offers a tranquil atmosphere where time slows and nature defines each moment.

Your days unfold at a flexible and romantic pace, with morning and afternoon game drives exploring a diverse landscape of wetlands, islands, and open plains. Wildlife encounters include elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and a rich variety of birdlife.

Seasonal mokoro or boat excursions provide a softer, quieter perspective of the Delta—gliding through reed-lined channels and water lilies. Guided walks, where conditions allow, offer a deeper connection to the environment.

A signature highlight of your stay is the Helicopter Horizons Champagne Experience. Enjoy a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta, revealing its vast network of channels and islands from above. Midway, land on a remote palm island where you will share a private champagne moment surrounded by untouched wilderness—an unforgettable honeymoon experience.

Back at camp, enjoy private sundowners, candlelit dinners, and uninterrupted time together. Your final full day allows for relaxation or revisiting your favorite activities.

Day 8: Departure

After a final breakfast overlooking the Delta, depart with onward transfer arrangements. Your journey concludes with lasting memories of a honeymoon defined by romance, scenic beauty, and the unique magic of Botswana.
