Safari Itinerary
Days: 1-4
OKAVANGO DELTA
On arrival in Maun, Botswana the guests will be met by a representative to assist them with their connection on to a light charter flight (scheduled service) to kala Camp. On arrival at the airstrip, guests will be met and transferred by motorboat to Kala Camp.
Situated 12kms southeast of Setari and 6kms south of Jedibe airstrip, Kala Camp hugs the banks of a seasonal river overlooking a palm forest island beyond.
The area offers a watery paradise between the months of May and October where guests can enjoy boating and Mekoro rides from in front of camp and long walks on the nearby islands.
Between October and May, the flood water recedes and the floodplains dry up attracting large herds of buffalo and elephant. With the buffalo, lion are often found in the vicinity hoping for a feast! As well as the larger game, the birding in the area is also varied and plentiful.
Safaris from Kala are seasonal and between April and September, boating and mokoros are available as well as the opportunity to go and explore the Delta on foot on a walking safari. Between October and March, the focus at Kala is more walking safaris as well as mokoro safaris depending on water levels.
During the 3 Nights stay guests will get to do guide led activities: Bird Watching, Boating, Helicopter Scenic Flights (additional costs), High Tea, Mokoro Excursion, and Walks (Guided)
Overnight at Kala Camp (3 Nights) – Fully inclusive
Days: 4-7
KHWAI PRIVATE RESERVE
The next leg of your trip takes you to the drier interiors of the Khwai Private Reserve where you will find Elephant Pan amongst a forest of mopane trees and a very productive game watching waterhole in front of camp. Being the only permanent water source for miles around, it is a magnet for wildlife – particularly elephant. You’ll literally open your tent flaps straight on to the trumpeting elephant, spending your siesta watching herds splash and snort. This is a private piece of big-game Africa, where the wildlife encounters are authentic, intimate and always wild.
Elephant Pan revels in its location, here amid the sandy mopane forests in the drier interior of Khwai Private Reserve. It’s a laid-back destination where the wildlife that flocks to the waterhole on the fringes of the camp offers guests a front-row seat to thrilling sightings. If you’ve always wanted to get up close to ellies, Elephant Pan is for you.
The camp is stylishly simple with guest accommodation in eight tents overlooking the waterhole with its big elephant action. In the morning, you’ll open your tent flaps straight on to the trumpeting elephant in the waters below, spend your siesta watching herds splash and snort, and fall asleep to antelope grazing just outside your canvas walls. This isn’t a place for those looking for opulence and extravagance; it’s a private piece of big-game Africa, where the wildlife encounters are authentic, intimate and always wild.
