Introduction

RHINO RIVER CAMP

Rhino River Camp is situated in 60 acres of privately owned wilderness right on the edge of the Meru National Park and it is an excellent base from where to explore Meru National Park, with opportunities to see all of Africa’s “Big Five”.

The camp is made up of two forest tents and five riverside suites built from caramel canvas and hardwood and is set on raised wooden platforms from where you can watch the gentle flow of the Kindani River. This makes your experience at Rhino River Camp truly magical.

ACTIVITIES

The camp itself offers a swimming pool, a restaurant area, a well stocked bar as well as many activities for you to explore. Whether you choose to watch the African wildlife ; walk in the bush or lie in the sun, Rhino River Camp can indulge in your every whim.

Guests at Rhino River Camp have the opportunity to visit the Meru National Park which hosts large populations of elephants, hippos, lions, cheetahs and leopards as well as many other animals including more than 300 species of birds.

Nearby is the Meru Park Rhino Sanctuary, one of the few places that you can still see these spectacular animals. At Meru National Park visitors can learn about Elsa the Lioness, the inspiration for the book and film “Born Free”. Elsa was orphaned in 1956 at just a few weeks old and was raised by conservationists George & Joy Adamson. Elsa was trained to survive on her own and was eventually released into the wild.
