In December 2023, Lesley Pritt will be escorting a small group on an incredible journey through the less-traveled of this small, beautiful and friendly country with its fabulously diverse wildlife.
During our journey we will visit the key wildlife habitats of the Central Highlands and Southern Pacific Ocean. Travelling by road, boat and on foot to explore the rain and cloud forests, valleys, jungles, mangroves and tropical beaches while staying in carefully-chosen, comfortable lodges that keep you close to nature.
Costa Rica has the highest biodiversity of any nation of its size and our itinerary focuses on exploring the wildlife of this extraordinary country, seeking out mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and marine life.
You can be as active as you wish: hiking, kayaking, snorkelling. Or as relaxed as you wish: bird-watching, strolling on nature trails or simply watching the natural world from the gardens and beaches of the lodges.
Highlights of the trip include:
- Birdwatch in the hilltops and cloud forest of the Savegre Valley; one of the best sites in Costa Rica to see the famous Resplendent Quetzal along with several species of hummingbird
- Stroll on the beaches of Marino Ballena and walk out on the "whale tail" tombola at low tide; take a dip in the Pacific Ocean
- Travel by boat to the Osa Peninsula. Hike in the Corcovado National Park where Central America's densest populations of tapir and scarlet macaws reside
- Snorkel within a marine reserve to spot a wide variety of fish and marine mammals
- Take a nocturnal walk to find night-time creatures in their habitat
If you would like to stay a few days longer after the group trip, we have lots of ideas for extensions to your trip, just give us a call to discuss
