Lake Nakuru is a Birders fantasy lying on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. It is an ecological diversity with varied habitats that range from wooded and bush grasslands. The surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges make it enticing.
The park is also famous for more than 25 eastern black rhinoceros, one of the largest concentrations in the country, plus around 70 endemic southern white rhinos. Other wildifre found here are Rothschild's giraffe, waterbuck, lion, cheetah and leopard. The park also has large sized pythons that inhabit the dense woodlands, and can often be seen crossing the roads or dangling from trees.
Day 1
You leave Nairobi in the morning at 8.00 am, drive down the escarpment into the Great Rift Valley. You drive on past the extinct volcano - Mt. Longonot - to arrive Lake Nakuru National Park - an ornithologist's paradise, the home to a variety of plains game, larger herds of buffalo, rhino and a variety of predators.
Check in to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure, at 3.30 you will be taken on an evening game drive. Return to the lodge at dusk for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Early morning drive starting at 6.30 am. Return to the camp for breakfast. After breakfast check out and return to Nairobi.
