A wildlife journey of discovery to Argentina's Patagonian coast.
The name of this wilderness comes from the Spanish word to describe the native people who were thought to be giants. In reality, many of the target wildlife species we hope to encounter are indeed the true giants. Escorted by Lesley Pritt, this is an outstanding opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the abundant marine and steppe wildlife that inhabits the wild and rugged region. Staying in two fantastic hand-picked lodges perfectly placed for close encounters with wildlife.
We will travel to the famous Valdes Peninsula, the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and explore the vast wind-swept steppe of Patagonia.
We will explore the habitats and discover wildlife by boat, on foot, in 4x4s - even on horseback or bicycles if you wish! You will be guided by expert conservationists, some of whom carry out research projects on the species we plan to see to add a deeper dimension to your trip.
Marine wildlife target species will include Southern Right Whales, Southern Elephant Seals, South American Sea Lions, Magellanic Penguins, Dolphins and Orcas and the many marine birds - endemic and migratory - that are found here.
We will be searching for Guanacos, Armadillo, Skunk, Grey Fox, Lesser Rheas and Patagonian Cavy on the steppe.
