Embrace the magic of the south on a week-long escapade through South Africa’s enthralling Garden Route. This sojourn plunges you into the heart of the country’s most magnificent coastal regions and protected national parks, serving you the most savoury slices of the South African safari experience.
The adventure unfurls in the verdant expanses of the Addo Elephant National Park, a wildlife sanctuary that is pivotal to the safari connoisseur’s bucket list. Steeped in untamed nature, we embark on an invigorating safari ride, our hearts pounding with the thrill of the impending wildlife encounters. The park’s diverse botanical landscapes play host to an equally diverse range of fauna, turning our afternoon into a stimulating exploration of the wild.
Leaving the Addo behind, we journey to the untamed allure of the Garden Route, a natural spectacle that tugs at the heartstrings of every nature lover. Traversing through scrub bush and indigenous forest, flanked by river and sea, we reach our sojourn near the Tsitsikamma National Park. Our two-night halt here gifts you a plethora of activities to participate in. Unleash your adrenaline with a plunge off the Bloukraans Bridge, the world’s highest bungee jump spot, and explore the marine marvels of the Tsitsikamma National Park. Follow your guide on a picturesque hike along the Waterfall Trail, the inaugural stretch of the world-renowned Otter Trail.
Next, we venture to the effervescent resort town of Knysna along the Garden Route, serving as a springboard to several leisure attractions like Birds of Eden and Monkey Town. From the coastal allure, we head inland towards Oudtshoorn, crossing the breathtakingly beautiful Outeniqua Mountains. The unique allure of Oudtshoorn lies within the labyrinthine Cango Caves, a network of limestone wonders that promise awe-inspiring natural formations.
Onward, we return to the coastline, traversing the Hottentots-Holland Mountains and making a stop at Cape Agulhas, Africa’s southernmost point, and the diverse De Hoop Nature Reserve. The quaint town of Standford provides a peaceful haven for the night before we hit the Whale Coast. A visit to Hermanus in the right season (winter) may reward us with sights of the southern right whales performing their maritime ballet in the bay.
Our journey culminates at Cape Town, but not before a pitstop at the Stony Point Nature Reserve, home to the largest breeding colony of African Penguins. A leisurely drive along the most scenic coastline wraps up our immersive Garden Route experience, leaving us with memories as colourful and diverse as the route itself
