Introduction

23 Mar 2021 - 7 Apr 2021

Holi is one of the major festivals of India and is celebrated on different dates every year.

The legends of Holi are as colourful as Holi itself. There are a myriad shades and tones in them, from the subtle ones of love and devotion, to the darker hues pertaining to demons and their devilish desires.

Millions of Hindus have incredible faith in these legends. They relive these stories every year and bring to life the incidents which occurred (or may not have) thousands of years ago.

A belief in the legends, devotion to god and a strong belief in the fact that it is the good and the truth that ultimately prevails over evil and pulls the people to religiously follow the set traditions each year. And, this faith - in god and the ancient traditions, is what still binds the people in a spirit of love and harmony in this otherwise divided society.

This great Indian festival is observed at the end of winter, normally in March, after the full moon.

This tour also coincides with the wedding season of India - spectacles not to be missed!

The tour will be hosted by Margaret Freebairn who is our Senior Tour Manager and has escorted more than 30 tours to India and Nepal. Her intimate knowledge of the subcontinent together with her empathy with the local people will ensure a special and memorable experience.
