A wet season visit to Botswana (typically November to April) reveals a breathtaking ecological paradox. The summer rains trigger the "emerald season," completely transforming two starkly different landscapes into thriving, water-rich havens teeming with intra-African and Palaearctic migratory birds in spectacular breeding plumage. 1. The Okavango Panhandle; The deep, permanent northern corridor where the Okavango River enters Botswana before branching out into the delta.
