Our Horse Safari is one of the few places in the world where you can see wildlife in its natural environment from the back of a horse! So please note, that this itinerary is an example and not a guarantee, wildlife determines our daily activities. Please help us to preserve nature by respecting our guidance throughout your trip. The Big Five Horse Safari itinerary is designed for experienced riders and
offers a unique opportunity to see the Big Five in their natural habitat.
Here's a brief overview of the itinerary:
Arrival: Upon arrival at Hoedspruit airport, guests are met and transferred to our horse safari camp in time for afternoon tea.
Safety Briefing: Guests are introduced to the team and undergo a safety briefing before their first ride.
Orientation Ride: The orientation ride introduces guests to the area around the camp, relax after a long flight.
First Full Morning Ride: Guests embark on their first full morning ride, with the chance to spot wildlife such as zebra or giraffe.
Dinner and Sundowners: Sundowners are enjoyed while watching the Drakensberg mountain over the river, followed by a three-course dinner.
Wildlife Viewing: The main focus of the safari is wildlife viewing, with opportunities to see elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffalo.
Accommodation: Guests stay in comfortable lodges with a touch of luxury, often overlooking waterholes and surrounded by wildlife.
Game Viewing: The safari is known for its excellent game viewing, with the horses being well-trained to remain calm in front of big game.
Personalized Experience: The safari is highly personalized, with a maximum of 7 riders per group to ensure an exclusive and personal experience.
Guiding: Guests are likely to be guided by experienced hands, ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride.
The itinerary is subject to change based on wildlife sightings and other factors, but it is designed to provide an unforgettable experience for riders looking to see the Big Five on horseback.
BIG FIVE SAFARI
This is our signature safari which we offer all year round. A challenging ride that takes you through Big Five game reserves on the outskirts of The Kruger National Park. It is an adventurous horse safari for experienced riders.
BIG FIVE SAFARI: 8 days, 7 nights mobile safari.
- 4 nights at Wait A Little,
- 1 night Beacon Rock (sleep out),
- 2 nights XiDulu.
- This safari starts and ends on Saturdays all year around.
Services Provided: All lodges have a dining area, lounges, swimming pools, sun decks, en suite bathrooms, outside showers, baths, king size beds or twin beds, private decks, three meals from excellent cuisine, therapies, bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners, picnics, special diets, special wines.
Rates include: Accommodation at Wait A Little is in modern thatched canvas camps. Xidulu and Clive’s camp are both top class private camps which are used exclusively for Wait A Little clients. Accommodation is in chalets. Included are all meals, all drinks, all conservation fees, taxes, all rides, game drives, guiding, laundry service at Wait A Little camp, Wi-Fi and VAT.
Rates exclude staff gratuities, massages, special wines, champagne and spirits.
• Medical travel insurance is required, and the policy number must be present on arrival. Ask your doctor or physician about Malaria precaution in the Lowveld of the Limpopo Province.
• Due to the possibility of encountering big game (including Lion and Elephant) and for your own safety, we request that you are a confident, regular, and fit rider. We can only accept experienced riders! We will dismount any person that seems incompetent and a danger to the group. We are not liable in case we have to make alternative bookings at additional cost to the client. We recommend wearing a properly fitted riding helmet.
• Times are approximate and vary in accordance with the condition of the group and weather conditions. Itineraries might change due to circumstance.
• Suitable comfortable clothes for riding, preferably muted colours. We can provide chaps and helmets but preferably bring your own.
• All guests are required to sign an indemnity form on arrival and cannot be permitted to ride before signing.
• A safety briefing will be held before departure on a safari.
• Singles share accommodation or pay 50% supplement. Please note that one single room is provided at all camps for people who don’t want to share accommodation without paying supplement, according to availability (not possible for groups of 8).
• No children under the age of 10 can join a horse safari. 20 % Discount is given for children between the age of 10 and 16 years.
• Daily exchange rates might have a slight influence on the prices charged in foreign currency.
