Introduction

HIGHLIGHTS OF KAYAKING THE ARAJUNO RIVER

  • Meet the Kichwa community and learn about their culture and traditions while experiencing an off-the-beaten path region where you can look for beautiful birds and monkeys along the riverside
  • Choose between several activities: Kayak or Stand Up Paddle, Hiking, Birdwatching, Canoeing, Swimming, Culture, Wildlife, Fishing, Photography
  • Accommodation is provided at a basic campsite next to the Kichwa community

Short Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Kayak to the Kichwa Community

3 hours of kayak action, paddling down the Punin River. We set up camp in an indigenous Kichwa community. In the late afternoon, members of the community will join us to recount stories of old, and share their culture and traditions.

Meals included: Lunch and dinner

  • Day 2: Kayak the Arajuno

Early morning kayak down river to visit a parrot claylick - the favorite gathering place of vibrantly feathered local parrots. After breakfast and local Guayusa tea, it's back to the kayaks to paddle on the Arajuno River looking out for wildlife. After enjoying a riverside picnic, we head back to Quito.
