The ultimate walking safari itinerary for adventurous travellers and safari purists looking for an authentic walking experience in the Okavango. Combining the two best walking outfits operating on private concessions in the Okavango –Beagle Expeditions in the west and Shinde Footsteps in the east.

This itinerary delivers a fantastic week – long delta adventure. Beginning at a small three tent camp and ending with the guests’ own private mobile camp accessed only by helicopter, this is truly off the beaten track. Superb guiding is at the heart of this itinerary – taking your safari experience to the next level.

Safari Itinerary

Days 1-5

OKAVANGO

On arrival in Maun, Botswana the guests will be met by a representative to assist them with their connection on to a helicopter to Kweene Trails.

The Kweene Trails explores a wild and spectacular corner of the Okavango Delta! This exclusive area lies on a stretch of the Kweene River system adjacent to the Sandveld tongue in the Western Okavango Delta. What makes it most special for us is its remoteness, accessible only to our guests and only by helicopter.

There is no better way to experience a true African Safari than in the comfort and privacy of your own exclusive mobile safari camp and in an entirely exclusive landscape. A journey through the wilderness with the intimacy and flexibility of your own camp, guide, safari vehicle and staff complement.

Over 4 nights the camp will move from the South to the North, with two nights in each area- walking between the camps during the day. Mokoro excursions (available -water levels depending) and game drives.

Overnight at Kweene River Camp (2 Nights) and Magwegwe Camp (2 Nights)

OKAVANGO

A helicopter flight will see guests fly right across the Okavango, a truly magnificent experience, taking around 30-40 minutes to Shinde Footsteps where the host guide will be waiting for the guests.

This itinerary continues with three nights in the eastern Okavango, on the private Shinde concession and staying at Footsteps Camp – where the experience is all in the name. This is the only permanent camp dedicated to walking safaris in the Okavango. Over the next 3 days guests explore this beautiful and game -lively private concession known for its superb game viewing. Staying in an authentic bush camp with a down – to -earth and friendly atmosphere, this is a return to the safaris of old. The occasional game drive and mokoro trip is offered to complete your Okavango experience.

Footsteps Camp is a simple but comfortable camp, mobile in style although in practice the camp never moves (unlike the next camp). It perfectly captures the authentic back to basics style of safari where the focus is on the wilderness around you. There are just three tents, all en-suite with flushing loos and bucket showers. With only three tents this is a friendly and intimate camp. The guiding is excellent, as you would expect it to be on a walking safari.

Overnight at Shinde Footsteps (3 Nights) – Fully inclusive

Day 8: End of Safari

After a final morning activity, guests will depart the camp for Maun Airport where they will continue with onward travel arrangements.
