As you venture further, brace for the thrill of crossing the Drake Passage, a rite of passage for all Antarctic explorers, with majestic swells and frequent sightings of soaring albatrosses and petrels.
Upon reaching the South Shetland Islands, the air cools, and the landscapes transform dramatically. Icebergs loom on the horizon, each a floating sculpture carved by the elements. As the USHUAIA navigates southward, the Antarctic Peninsula reveals its spectacular icy scenery. Glide through narrow passages framed by towering ice cliffs and frequented by feeding whales.
Each destination offers a unique encounter with the continent's wildlife. Experience the bustling rookeries of Paulet Island, serene bays where Weddell seals bask on floating ice sheets, and dramatic cliffs of Pléneau and Petermann Islands, home to vast colonies of penguins. Watch for Minke and Humpback Whales surfacing alongside the ship. At Paradise Bay, attempt a landing on the continent proper.
