Dear Traveller,
This itinerary has been designed to offer a balanced and authentic journey through some of Malawi’s most beautiful and contrasting regions — combining safari experiences, scenic highlands, cultural encounters and the peaceful shores of Lake Malawi.
The adventure begins in Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi’s premier Big Five reserve and one of Africa’s great conservation success stories. Staying at Thawale Lodge, you will enjoy intimate safari experiences with morning and afternoon game drives through landscapes rich in wildlife and riverine scenery.
From here, the journey continues into the Thyolo region, known for its rolling tea plantations and colonial heritage. Huntingdon House, located within the historic Satemwa Tea Estate, offers a peaceful stay surrounded by green hills and tea gardens.
Next comes Liwonde National Park, one of Malawi’s finest safari destinations. Set along the Shire River, Liwonde offers exceptional wildlife viewing both on land and by boat, with hippos, elephants, crocodiles and abundant birdlife regularly seen throughout the park.
The journey concludes on Nankoma Island in Lake Malawi, where Blue Zebra Island Lodge provides the perfect setting to slow down and unwind. Crystal-clear waters, kayaking, snorkelling, dhow cruises and village visits offer a relaxed final chapter to the journey.
Altogether, this itinerary combines wildlife, landscapes and local experiences into a seamless journey through the “Warm Heart of Africa.”
Enjoy the reading, get inspired, and we look forward to designing your perfect Malawi experience.
Warm regards,

Budget Considerations
The overall cost of travel will depend on several factors, including:
Duration of travel (longer journeys dilute transfers over more nights, making the average rate per night more efficient)
Season of travel (May and June are ideal in terms of climate and also offer considerably lower pricing compared to peak season)
Group size (sharing transport and guides reduces per-person costs)
Lodge category (entry-level vs. luxury lodges)
