Introduction

Dear Customer,

Vietnam is one of those countries that stays with you. The food, the history, the sheer variety of landscape from the Mekong Delta to the limestone bays of the north, and the warmth of the people who live across it all.

This 15-day Classic Vietnam Holiday takes you through the country’s most rewarding destinations, south to north, with enough time in each place to get properly beneath the surface.

You begin in Saigon, Vietnam’s energetic commercial capital, with three nights to explore the city by vintage jeep, take in the wartime history at the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum, and spend a full day in the Mekong Delta - out on the water at Ben Tre, through coconut groves and past brick factories, for a genuine taste of southern river life.

From Saigon you fly north to Hoi An for three nights. The Ancient Town is best explored slowly and on foot, and you’ll have time to do exactly that. A morning cooking class at Tra Que herb village and a private early visit to the Cham temple ruins at My Son Sanctuary round out central Vietnam’s most characterful stop.

The private car transfer north to Hue follows the coast over the Hai Van Pass, with stops at the Marble Mountains and Lang Co Lagoon along the way. Three nights in Hue allow a full day with your own private guide at the Imperial Citadel and royal tombs of Minh Mang and Khai Dinh, plus an evening by cyclo through the city’s street food scene - one of the best ways to understand Hue’s distinct and celebrated culinary identity.

Flying north to Hanoi, your first evening in the capital is a private street food walk through the Old Quarter after dark. The following morning you explore by vintage army jeep, taking in the Ho Chi Minh Complex, the Temple of Literature, Train Street and the backstreets most visitors never find, before the afternoon transfer south to Ninh Binh and the Emeralda Resort on the edge of Van Long Nature Reserve.

Two nights at the Emeralda give you time for a late-afternoon boat trip on Van Long on arrival — one of the quietest and most rewarding waterways in northern Vietnam - followed by a full day exploring Trang An by rowing boat through six cave passages, the ancient capital at Hoa Lu and the panoramic climb at Mua Cave.

The itinerary closes with an overnight cruise on Lan Ha Bay aboard the Peony Cruise - kayaking, swimming and drifting between limestone islands before returning to Hanoi for a final night and your flight home.
