Japan Uncovered - 16 nights

This Japan Uncovered Holiday is a great way to see the best of Japan in a short space of time and includes flights, transfers, rail tickets and accommodation and is a partly-guided trip. It's a tailor made private tour which can be adjusted to suit you, as you wish.

On arrival in Tokyo you'll be met and transferred to your hotel by private car.

Begin in Tokyo with two full days to discover this captivating city. A full day tour is included in Tokyo with a private guide. This will ensure you get your bearings in the city and see some of the most important sights.

From Tokyo head to Hakone by Romance Car train, armed with a Hakone Free Pass to explore this scenic area of Japan in the shadow of Mount Fuji.

Travel by cable-car, walk some trails, soak in a Hot Spring (Onsen) and discover something of Japan outside the main cities. We've included a stay in a Ryokan hotel here, so you can experience staying in a traditional Japanese hotel, with a multi-course Kaiseki Dinner included.

From Hakone head to the Japanese Alps and the charming town of Takayama where you have 2 nights. It's a great place to explore on foot. A morning tour is included.

Afterwards, head to the coastal town of Kanazawa, often called 'Little Kyoto'. Kanazawa is an old Samurai town with one of the best Japanese Gardens in the country and one of the most dramatic Japanese Castles. It's a place you can easily explore on your own.

From Kanazawa catch the famous Shinkansen Bullet Train to Hiroshima where you'll be able to visit the Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima Island, home to the often-photographed 'floating' Torii gate.

From Hiroshima, head to Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan and home to many of Japan's most iconic sights. We have included a group walking tour in the Geisha district of Gion.

Enjoy plenty of time to explore independently. You have a full day tour included in Kyoto with a private guide who will help you to visit the iconic sights in the most efficient way.

From Kyoto head to Koyasan for an unforgettable stay in one of the most spiritual destinations in Japan. You'll be accommodated in a Temple Stay tonight (comfortable, private Japanese style room). It's a great contrast to the busy cities and is a highlight of Japan for many.

Your Japan Uncovered Journey culminates with 2 nights in Osaka, where you have a half day tour included. You'll have the chance to enjoy the busy area of Dotonbori and try out some of the best Street Food in Japan.

Japan isn't the easiest of destinations to organise a trip independently, so this itinerary is designed to have everything in place for you and give you some useful advice and assistance so you can sit back and start to look forward to your Japan experience, with some days planned and some free for your own explorations of Japan.
