Introduction

Lower Zambezi Safari with Classic Zambia – 6 Nights (with the option to extend)

This 6-night safari is all about immersing yourself in the wild, with a highly personalised and flexible experience in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park. You’ll split your time between two of Classic Zambia’s remote camps—Kutali and Chula—both set in prime wildlife areas, giving you the full benefit of varied habitats, activities, and settings.

Your safari begins in Lusaka, where you’ll join a private light aircraft flight direct into the park—included in the cost. It’s a seamless way to begin, skipping the long drives and stepping straight into the wilderness. On arrival, you’ll be met at the airstrip, often by one of the guides themselves, and your first game drive begins before you even reach camp.

Classic Zambia’s guiding team is among the best in the region—highly skilled, deeply experienced, and genuinely passionate about sharing their knowledge. Their strength lies not just in what they know, but in how they share it—with patience, insight, and a real feel for reading both the bush and their guests. Whether you’re tracking lions on foot, drifting silently past elephants on the river, or learning about bird calls and animal behaviour, their guidance makes the experience deeply memorable.

Accommodation in both camps is in well-spaced, walk-in safari tents, carefully positioned for both views and privacy. The tents feature mesh sides, so you’re always aware you’re in the heart of nature, with roll-down canvas panels for nighttime—or leave them open for a sleep-out feel under the stars. Each tent has an open-air en suite bathroom, offering a comfortable but close-to-nature experience. Nights are filled with the sounds of the bush—hippos grunting, lions calling in the distance—and mornings begin with fresh coffee delivered to your tent as the sun rises through the trees.

Wildlife viewing in this part of the Lower Zambezi is exceptional. You’re likely to encounter elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of antelope. There’s also a good chance of seeing wild dogs, and birding is excellent year-round. The mix of rivers, floodplains, and woodland supports a rich and diverse ecosystem.

Your days can include day and night game drives, canoeing, walking safaris, boat cruises, and catch-and-release fishing—all tailored to your preferences and pace. It’s a safari experience that’s both adventurous and accessible, run by people who genuinely love what they do.

And if you’d like to explore further, this trip can be easily extended to include South Luangwa, Kafue, or Liuwa Plain, for a longer journey through Zambia’s wild and varied landscapes.
