The Makgadikgadi Saltpans are the remains of an ancient dried out lake, with ideal terrain for exhilarating riding. Our five night riding safari follows the shoreline of this fascinating area.
During the dry season we ride straight into the heart of the pans and we still won't reach the other side by the time we and the horses have had enough! During the wet season we ride on the edges, in the grassy plains that attract the last remaining migration of wildebeest and zebra in southern Africa.
There are two 5 night set departure dates every month for a maximum of 8 participants. We spend 3 nights at our permanent fixed base camp and 2 nights in a mobile fly camp. As well the set departures other dates are available on request for private groups.
The ride is suitable for intermediate to experienced riders.
Instead of following the 5 night trail some of our guest riders opt to spend a few nights at Camp Kalahari and ride out daily as an alternative.
