Colombia: A Wildlife Exploration January 2026

A small group wildlife exploration trip to Colombia.  

Colombia is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth.  Home to a staggering variety of landscapes and species, this safari will take us from the lush Andean cloud forests to the vast plains of Los Llanos.

On this journey, we will visit some of Colombia’s most remarkable natural areas, each offering unique wildlife encounters:

• La Calera – A hidden paradise near Bogotá, where we’ll be surrounded by dazzling hummingbirds in the Andean highlands.
• Río Claro Nature Reserve—This tropical canyon, carved by crystal-clear waters, offers exceptional birding opportunities and the chance to observe endemic species in a stunning jungle setting.
• Hacienda El Bosque – A high-altitude reserve near Manizales, known for its rare and charismatic birds, including the spectacular antpittas and mountain toucans.
• Ecolodge Juan Solito in Los Llanos – Deep in the heart of Colombia’s vast grasslands, we’ll explore a region teeming with wildlife, from capybaras to wild horses and an incredible array of birdlife.  Here lies the opportunity for Giant Anteater and Jaguar.
