Safari Itinerary

Days: 1-7

OKAVANGO DELTA

On arrival in Maun, Botswana the guests will be met by a representative to assist them with their light aircraft transfer to  Seronga Airstrip and then a road trnasfer to Jumbo Junction.

Bontsintsi Horse Safaris takes you to the heart of Botswana – one of Africa’s most celebrated big game safari destinations. Here, you will traverse the vast floodplains of the Okavango Delta, overnighting in mobile camps and dining in beautiful wilderness settings. Encountering majestic wildlife from horseback brings you into the present moment, where you forget about the past & leaves you not thinking of the future. Your experience is co -created with our well trained and schooled herd of horses which graze the floodplains on their off days. Expect an adventure that will restore your senses and leave you feeling truly alive.

Basecamp: Jumbo Junction

Jumbo Junction offers a combination of 6 luxury tented units and comfortable chalets, each with its own en-suite bathroom and options of twin or double beds. All have dedicated fire-heated hot water systems, which are lit in the evenings and early in the mornings.

Enjoy a wonderful entertainment and dining area that overlooks the floodplains and is perfect to watch golden sunrises. The jetty out front allows easy access to the Delta and water-based activities.

Mobile Safari Campsites

During our mobile camps, we overnight at temporary campsites in the bush. Decorated tents, the shower, the toilet and the kitchen is built and removed for every safari. Our chef joins us to prepare our meals, but the WiFi stays at base camp.

Be prepared for an experience of a lifetime, in close contact with the nature and wild animals of the Okavango Delta, where the beautiful nocturnal sounds might keep you awake at night

DAY 1: 

Welcome to the Base Camp, Jumbo Junction, where your adventure into the wild begins! Get familiar with your horses as you take a scenic ride through the flood plains. Settle into the safari spirit, relaxing and soaking up the evening atmosphere around the fire.

For guests arriving too late for their introductory ride, don’t worry – You’ll have the opportunity to get acquainted with your horse on the morning of Day 2, before setting off on you adventure into the Delta.

DAY 2 & 3:

Mount your horse and ride into the heart of the Delta, arriving at our hidden Island Camp. Spend the next two nights surrounded by untouched wilderness and incredible wildlife. Enjoy exhilarating morning horse rides and choose from a range of afternoon activities: boat cruises, mokoro trips, game drives, night drives, or scenic heli-flights. Top it all off with stunning sunsets, delicious meals, and great company.

DAY 4 & 5 :

The adventure intensifies as we depart from our bush camp and journey to our River Camp. Experience the thrill of riding through the wild, where every morning brings you closer to the untouched beauty of the delta.

Your final day in the delta begins with a farewell ride through the wild, as you savor every moment of this unforgettable journey. Witness the stunning wildlife one last time from horseback as you make your way back to basecamp. As the sun sets on your adventure, enjoy a magical last night with us, reflecting on the extraordinary experiences and memories you’ve made.

Day 7: End of Safari

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Savor your final morning with a delightful breakfast at Jumbo Junction, surrounded by the serene beauty of the wilderness. Take in the last moments of this incredible adventure before you embark on your journey home.

After a final morning activity, guests will depart the camp for Maun Airport where they will continue with onward travel arrangements.
