This section of river was the scene of the first paddlesteamers. The river here offers the greatest range of scenic variety, flowing through dairy farmland, willow lined riverbanks, spectacular high golden cliffs, station country, river flats and irrigated orchards. The cruise passes through a number of major towns, under bridges and through 5 locks. Birdlife abounds and this section is rich in Indigenous and European history.
