Introduction

Join us on a 3 Night Safari with a Difference … here amongst the beautiful British countryside.

We have teamed up with Helen Browning and Eastbrook Farm Estate for this unique 3 night tour. Based in Bishopstone, just outside Swindon, Eastbrook is a 1500 acre organic farm with a wealth of wildlife and nature to explore from its own delightful country pub.

Your hosts are Kathryn Haylett from Your Safari and James Andrews, photographer and photographic tutor. Kathryn and James have worked together previously in Namibia and are now offering a unique 3 night stay at The Royal Oak pub on Helen Browning’s Organic Farm.

You will have the opportunity to enjoy expert photographic tuition with James whilst enjoying everything Eastbrook has to offer.

  • Rooms at the Inn – The Royal Oak is a gently eccentric English pub and mini-hotel with luxury rooms set amid 1500 acres of mostly spectacular organic farmland, with bits of woodland and water, high ground and low ground, and its own 9 mile boundary
  • Meals at the Inn - Simple, hearty, generous, seasonal – and organic. Most of it, where possible, from Eastbrook Farm itself with short menus evolving daily. Nothing pretentious just great quality food produced in the fields around you. Local beers from Arkells, craft brewers 6 miles away, organic soft drinks, and interesting organic wines and fizzes from Europe and South America.
  • Things to Do - Walking Trails - The Ridgeway, the ancient national trail dating back 5000 years, crosses our land and we have 9 miles of boundary, 50 acres of trees, plenty of waymarked walks from 1 mile to seven miles; places to stop, sit, lounge and look.
  • Things to Do - Organic Farm – Farm Safaris - We think that Eastbrook Farm is a place of fun, and wonder, and hopefully inspiration with great landscapes, interesting animals, beautiful views, some stunning wildlife Eastbrook has everything from woodlands to ponds to pigs and in September the harvest begins.
  • Things to Do – Abundant Wildlife – The organic farming practises support a huge range of wildlife on the farm – from invertebrates to mammals and birds. The deer are a glorious sight especially on a frosty bright winter morning. There are foxes, badgers and hares fighting, like hares do. The buzzards, hawks and owls are simply thrilling to watch and the songs of birds can be heard everywhere.
  • Things to Do -Woodland Photo Hide – Enjoy the wildlife of Eastbrook from the Woodland Hide. Whether you are a keen photographer or just love nature, time spent sitting quietly observing the natural world hidden from view is always a magical experience.
  • Things to Do – Photography Tuition – James will be on hand to help you with your photography techniques and at Eastbrook there are plenty of opportunities to practice your landscape, wildlife or macro work.
  • Things to Do –  Botany,  Fungi and Flora walks
