Introduction

Prime time skiing in this area of Alaska takes place from late February through April. As the season goes on the days get longer, offering longer days of skiing and the time to find the best terrain and snow. The snow pack and weather both get more stable offering a wider variety of skiable terrain.

This trip is based Based in  the birthplace of Heliskiing in Alaska in the iconic town of Girdwood, just 45 minutes from the Anchorage International Airport and minutes from Alyeska Ski Resort is Girdwood. To the North and East, the Chugach Mountains rise from Sea Level to elevations upward of 10,000 feet. To the South and West, the Kenai Mountains are jagged peaks that hold incredible snow on slopes that range from mellow to extreme.

You will have access to over 300,000 acres of priority use terrain surrounding Girdwood, the North Gulf Coast near Seward, the Talkeetna Mountains to the North, and Across the Chugach. Snowcat and Helicopter skiing in the Girdwood Valley allows mechanized backcountry skiing during the harshest of Alaska weather.

In spite of the coronavirus pandemic, Girdwood remains one of the best places to ski in the world.  As in all other areas of life, fresh procedures have been put into place that prioritize health and safety. All guests will be required to sign a community health pledge before arrival, agree to daily screenings, follow all travel mandates, wear face coverings in the helicopter, vans and indoors, and reasonably minimize their exposure and risk of contracting COVID-19 before the trip.
