This is an amazing safari to destinations and parks that are not well visited by main stream tourism .
You start the safari on the Mozambique Coast South of Maputo in a special reserve where you may see Elephants walking along these pristine beaches and in the massive coastal dune forests and a good selection of other African mammals . Apart from being able to do your more usual safari activities of walks and game drives you can also spend time out at sea looking for the Humpback Whales that migrate through here or snorkeling on the beautiful reefs and enjoy the turtles that come onshore to nest between October and March each year.
Gorongosa is essentially a privately run National Park so it has had a tremendous amount of investment in critical areas of restocking - anti poaching - community outreach projects - research and tourism and today it is now a quality wildlife destination with a wonderful variety of mammal species including all your big predators that are now established and doing well here. There are a good number of different environments here from the forests on Mt Gorongosa itself down to the flat open flood plain grasslands, acacia woodlands, palm forests and open wetlands. Lots to explore and enjoy here.
A wonderful safari with two very contrasting areas to enjoy.
