Safari Itinerary

Days: 1-2

MAUN

On arrival in Maun, Botswana the guests will be met by a representative to assist them with their road transfer to Thamo Telele in Maun.

Guests will spend their first night at Thamo Telele, a little bush haven conveniently close to Maun. Set amongst the lush forest of old growth leadwood, bird plum and acacia trees, this is a safari style camp located in a 250-hectare private reserve on the banks of the Thamalakane river, an area packed with plains game on the outskirts of the iconic safari town, the gateway to the Okavango Delta.

This comfortable lodge sits in an enviable position bordering the Thamalakane River, offering a space for relaxation and tranquillity and is the ideal stop-over either side of any safari.

With a team of giraffe specialists at the lodge, on offer is a whole giraffe experience. Guests will get to interact with these beautiful animals, learn how to identify them and find out why giraffe conservation is so important to their survival. In fact, the lodge was even named after our littlest giraffe born in 2021. Surprisingly tall from birth she was soon called Thamo Telele, meaning ‘long neck’ in Setswana, and she captured our hearts in such a profound way that when the lodge opened it was decided to name it after her.

A hot spot for bird lovers and wildlife enthusiasts – here guests can enjoy horse riding, mountain biking, and a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta (if booked at an additional cost).

KAZIKINI-OKAVANGO

After breakfast, guests will be transferred to Mogogelo Camp (Road Transfer).

Mogogelo Camp is situated in the heart of the game-rich Kazikini area with permanent water, providing an unparalleled game experience right in front of the guests’ tent.

Guests will experience the thrill of spotting incredible wildlife from the comfort of their room, as all ten of our spacious rooms overlook the water hole and surrounding open plains. The rooms are well-spaced, ensuring maximum privacy and tranquillity for our guests.

For those seeking to venture out, Mogogelo camp offers game drives in the surrounding private concession, including the opportunity to explore after dark on a night drive. Additional activities for those wanting to explore further include day trips to the southern Moremi Game Reserve, providing a chance to experience the park’s incredible wildlife and natural beauty while for a unique and tranquil experience, the dedicated Mokoro station provides day trips to explore the peaceful waters of the Okavango Delta.

The main area of Mogogelo Camp is the perfect gathering place, offering a variety of seating options and a fireside boma front and centre. Relax and unwind after a long day of exploring the surrounding wilderness in this stunning setting with the wildlife at the waterhole for company.

Days: 4- 7

KHWAI

After breakfast, guests will be transferred to Camp Khwai for the Khwai experience.

Khwai is the epicentre of one of the worlds untouched landscapes and wildlife they have probably never heard of before like the Setutunga or endangered Wild Dogs.

After landing at Khwai airstrip, guests will hop aboard the safari vehicle for a short journey through the bush to Camp Khwai. Guests will be welcomed with a refreshing drink by their host at the traditional thatch main area overlooking the River Khwai wetlands.

Camp Khwai is inspired by the calmness of the Bedouin lifestyle merging with the cultural systems of Batswana, resulting in an intimate and immersive setting.

Guests will proceed to their spacious double bed suite and enjoy further views from the elevated private balcony. Guests might spot some elephants - or even a stalking leopard.

The thatched main area serves as the central gathering place for guests, offering comfortable seating and dining areas to relax and indulge in delicious meals while enjoying the stunning views and wildlife sightings.

This camp offers an array of activities to ensure that a stay is unforgettable.

Enjoy thrilling game drives and walking safaris, where you can spot majestic wildlife in their natural habitat. For a more tranquil experience, explore the Khwai River on a mokoro trip and witness the peacefulness of the side channels.

The location provides easy access to the Moremi Game Reserve, where you can observe the Big Five and other incredible wildlife. Take a tour of the nearby village to learn about the local culture and customs or embark on an exciting night drive to see nocturnal animals in action.

Sunrise and sunset is a wonderful time to walk out on to the firepit deck that is the venue for breakfasts and evening fireside chats.

Day 7: End of Safari

After a final morning activity, guests will depart the camp for Maun Airport where they will continue with onward travel arrangements.
