Mara North Conservancy

Days 1 - 4

Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful private wilderness area spanning more than 30 000 hectares. It is home to a spectacular array of plants, reptiles, birds and mammals; including elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other migratory wildlife. Leopard Gorge, in the heart of the conservancy, is famous as the setting of countless BBC Big Cat Diaries and National Geographic documentaries. Neighbouring the well-known Maasai Mara National Reserve, this conservancy is vital for sustaining the famous Serengeti wildebeest migrations as well as the endangered African wild dog and black rhino.

Kendwa

Days 4 - 10

Beautiful, relatively tourist-free Kendwa lies on the northwest coast of Unguja, a spectacular tropical island just off the coast of Tanzania. Powder-fine white-sand beaches are lapped by crystal-clear turquoise waters, which contain an extraordinary underwater wonderland perfect for scuba diving. Other activities on offer include parasailing, banana boating, and jet skiing. The beach here is also famous for its exciting Full Moon Party. The tidal patterns here also allow for swimming at any time of the day or night. A unique and wonderful experience provided here is the chance to learn how to build traditional dhows. Village tours are also on offer.

Stone Town

Days 10 - 11

Situated on the western coast of Zanzibar’s Unguja Island, UNESCO-listed Stone Town is the oldest part of Zanzibar City and is the cultural heart of the island. The town’s photogenic winding alleys are fringed by grand historic buildings, bustling bazaars, a glorious sultan’s palace, and the intriguing House of Wonders - named as such for exhibiting running water and electricity as never before in 1883. Stone Town also boasts numerous sacred buildings - over fifty mosques, six Hindu Temples, a Catholic, and an Anglican Cathedral - all of which are beautiful in unique ways. Other highlights include sunset dhow cruises; spice tours to aromatic distilleries; and neighbouring Changuu Island, home to stunning sandy beaches, a historic prison, and dozens of giant, ancient tortoises.
