Darling Downs is a region of southern Queensland located near the east coast of Australia. An agricultural area, known for its rolling plains and scenic views, there is much to see and do in Darling Downs. The main town of the area is Toowoomba, which provides easy access to the Bunya Mountains National Park. This pristine wilderness area is home to some rare birds, such as the satin bowerbird – which decorate their nests with blue objects – and the bunya pine tree, enormous specimens that can produce cones weighing up to 10 kilograms. Other great sights in Darling Downs include the Goomburra State Forest, and the 40-metre-high Queen Mary Falls, located in the Main Range National Park. Finally, there is excellent local produce available in villages and towns like Chinchilla and Stanthorpe.
