Siavonga

Days 1 - 3

Lying on the north shore of Lake Kariba in Zambia’s southern province, Siavonga, known fondly as the ‘Riviera of Zambia’, is famous for its picturesque setting, activities on the river and interesting history. Restaurants and shops line the riverside, creating a wonderful holiday atmosphere, and stunning views can be seen from the Dam Wall (the lake is in fact more of a dam than a lake). Siavonga offers jet-skis, houseboating, sailing and water skiing, and the Kariba waters are home to Tiger Fish, considered one of the finest game fish, making fishing a popular activity. Visitors can explore the nearby 150 million year old Chirundu Fossil Forest, where stone age implements can be found which indicate that locals used fossilised wood to make stone implements. There are also several exciting cultural festivals held here through the year.
