Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe (at 2300 metres) is situated in the Tarentaise Valley of Savoie in the French Alps. The town and area are truly impressive, boasting the largest ski area in the world (with more than 600 kilometres of runs) and six glaciers decorating the landscape. The town is also renowned for its magnitude of chic and up-to-the-minute array of 31 lifts, which include draglifts, chairlifts, gondolas, funitels, a cable car and ‘magic carpets’. The town also hosts the Tour de France in summer. Other activities on offer include paramotor flights, rafting, hydro-speeding, helicopter flights, a helicopter dining experience, heliskiing and helipboarding. Val Thorens provides a jaw dropping view of the legendary Glacier de Peclet. The resort of Meribel (among many others) is nearby.
