Located along the well-known Route 62 in South Africa’s beautiful Klein Karoo, the charming town of Oudtshoorn is known as the ostrich capital of the world. Running along the abundant Sundays River, just outside the Eastern Cape’s Port Elizabeth, the idyllic Sundays River Valley is an extraordinary area boasting several unique towns and attractions. Among numerous game reserves and nature parks, the famous Addo Elephant Park provides a wonderland of magnificent scenery and an abundance of wildlife including all members of the Big Five. Gqeberha ligt aan de Algoabaai in de Zuid-Afrikaanse provincie Oost-Kaap en staat bekend als „de vriendelijke stad” en „de winderige stad”. Gqeberha werd opgericht om Britse kolonisten te huisvesten die op basis van een door de overheid gesponsord programma werden ingezet om een buffer te vormen tussen het Kaap-Nederlandse en het Xhosa-conflict. De kleine haven is van daaruit gegroeid en is tegenwoordig de toegangspoort tot de prachtige Tuinroute en dient als een uitstekende uitvalsbasis om de prachtige wildreservaten en ongerepte stranden van de Oost-Kaap te verkennen. Bezoekers kunnen het Addo Elephant National Park verkennen, op slechts een korte dagtrip afstand, bewoond door honderden olifanten en andere dieren in het wild. Beklim de grootste duin van het gebied bij Maitland's Beach en spring op een boottocht om zeldzame zeevogels en walvissen te spotten.
