Located in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France, in the Savoie department, Bourg-Saint-Maurice is a skiing town in the heart of an open valley. With easy access to some major alpine mountains (Beaufortain, Mont Blanc, and Vanoise) and about eight ski resorts, the town provides the perfect base for ski and snow-sports enthusiasts. The area is also great for outdoor sports during summer, and is home to a renowned white water rafting course, often the chosen training grounds for European national teams. With its landscape being ideal for canoeing, cycling, paragliding, race walking and other activities, Bourg hosts major sports events regularly. Gourmands will delight in the wonderful collection of restaurants and bars - there is a flourishing culinary scene here offering sumptuous traditional specialities. Bourg is also well situated for visits to the Italian border and the picturesque town of Aosta.
